Quality |
.Quality means the number of knots within a defined area of the carpet despite the qualities of design, wool, colours, knots and the work of the weavers.
Any design needs to be accommodated to a grid. Therefore: the denser the knots are arranged per sq.m (= the higher the quality), the more correct the design will be fitted into the grid without loss of its characteristics. The knots of a carpet are represented as squares on cartridge paper or enlarged pixels on the screen. Any design has to be accommodated to such grid and thats called knot.plan (or patrone). Each square will become a knot of wool. A knot is the smallest design-unit and no line or point can be finer than the size of the single knot. This is the basic equation for PC-designers. But unlike a pixel or a square of the grid, each woollen knot occupies a definite area of the whole carpet and the quality indicates the size of the single knot. No need to use fine quality for a coars design and impossible to use coarse quality for a fine design.
The finer the knots, the more are needed to manufacture a certain area of a carpet. The quality fitting for your carpet depends on the kind of design you have and our work begins with stretching the thread on the loom according to the chosen quality. A simple design does not need to be manufactured in a high quality. Each carpet consists of colored knots and therefore any carpets design must be converted into definite colored points corresponding to the wool shades. The knots (grid, pixels, knots, resolution) can be finer or coarser and that is expressed by the number of knots /m2 or sq.ft. The quality (pixels, knots, resolution, grid) and the measurements of the carpet are strictly coresponding. The finer the quality, that more detailed a design can be knotted and that finer the outlines will appear and the labour and the production price rise will increase..
